Mountain Bikin' Mama

On Saturday, Mom and Dad watched the kids at our house while Todd and I went, you'll never believe it... MOUNTAIN BIKING! I have been on my bike only twice since Finley was born and the last time I was mountain biking was in 2003, five months pregnant with Finley. It felt so good to sweat and negotiate the trail on Saturday. At first I thought, "Oh man. Bike shorts on this fanny?" And then I found a long t-shirt and called it good. I looked like a total misfit compared to all the little hard bodied boys who mountain bike these days with their full suspension bikes and body armour. Todd and I have old bikes that serve us well, even without suspension and we are proud to just wear our shorts and t-shirts and fingerless gloves. We are really out of shape but it just felt incredibly good to do something so physical and such a "blast from the past", for us. Todd and I used to bike every week, at least once, up at Tiger Mountain in Issaquah or off of Hwy. 18. I remember a really fun trip to Capital Forest near Olympia where I was caked in orange mud at the end of the ride and fell off my bike at least half a dozen times. I look forward to more riding and gaining more of a balance in my life between caring for children and caring for myself and our relationship as a couple. Sorry! No pictures but maybe next time.
